About Me

teacher of year

My name is Sarah Montes. I am a graduate from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) and teaching in my passion. I am GT certified, ESL certified, and EC-6 certified. I graduated with highest honors with a 4.0 and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate (one out of ten) at the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M.  This is my third year teaching at Lakeview Elementary and my seventh year in the classroom.

I have a wonderful husband named David and we just had our first child in June! His name is Lincoln Bryant. I am enjoying every second of motherhood and now see life with entirely new eyes. The eyes of a mom. I believe this new perspective will only continue to make me a better teacher.

This past year, I had the privilege of looping with my first graders from the year before to second grade. It was an amazing experience watching them in their journey and seeing them grow as lifelong learners. I am thrilled to teach some fresh faces this year and look forward to the new relationships we will build. Relationships are my number one priority and what I believe makes my students successful.

I love teaching all subjects, but especially have a love for Language Arts and reading groups! I hope to continue working on my craft as a teacher by fostering creativity and innovation within myself and my students.

my students
Last year I was named Lakeview Teacher of the Year. I owe this success to my teammates, my administrators, my students that made it so fun to come to work each day, and the support of my Lakeview parents. I couldn't imagine being at any other school and want to continue to make Lakeview proud.
my team

Lakeview Elementary is a great place to learn and grow as an educator and student. The environment is friendly, the community is supportive, and the staff always wants what is best for kids. There is a true sense of community and family. I am so thankful to get to be part of this school.
